Original Goldbacks Retired, New Ones on the Way!
Goldback, Inc. has officially discontinued printing of the original Utah, Nevada, and New Hampshire designs. Those are out of print as of June 2025 and will be replaced with refreshed versions featuring updated artwork, enhanced security features, and new denominations such as ½, 2, and 100 Goldbacks.
Early series Goldbacks are no longer being produced, though existing bills will remain usable while supplies last. Collectors are noting that Oklahoma will launch as a Limited Early Release, and the plan seems to be about four new state programs per year, with limited quantities per state to preserve collectibility.
In short: the old Utah, Nevada, and New Hampshire Goldbacks are gone. New versions debut starting in 2026, with upgraded designs and security features. The original early‑series notes are still good for use, but they won’t ever be reprinted, making them more collectible.
