Night Shift on the Memory Machine

Unearthing the Archive

Once again I’ve spent the night — about six hours, midnight to six a.m. — reviewing and sorting through the countless items on my hard drives. Little treasure bins scattered across folders, partitions, old drives, and backup copies. It’s quiet work, and it suits me. The house is still. No distractions. Just me and the glow of the screen, moving files like bones in an archaeological dig.

The contents? Pictures, songs, videos, craft items, obscure experiments, fragments of forgotten projects. Some have names, most don’t. Most I remember making — but others feel like someone else entirely left them behind for me to find.

Most of these things haven’t been seen before. Not by the group, not by the public, and in some cases, not even by me in years. I’ve uncovered songs that never made it to Zoom, videos shot and stashed, prints that never got scanned or shared, prototypes for amulets and beadwork, rough sketches that still carry fire.

The items number in the hundreds. Maybe thousands.
We won’t run out this morning — not even close.

What’s happening here is something more than organizing. It’s resurrection. These aren’t dead files. They’re waiting. Patiently. For the right moment, the right audience, the right game, the right auction, the right day on the Zoom screen when someone says, “Whoa — what is that?”

So, if you’re in the Zoom group today, expect the unexpected.
Some of these things are coming out for the very first time.
And they’re ready. Hope you can make it! Will be (no caps) fun!
