the station that makes it

Tonight’s episode of Norton Street begins with one of the oldest fantasies in storytelling: the hope that there might be a simple way home. Crystal jokingly suggests that the Bornless One click his heels three times, but even the familiar Dorothy in Oz Solution fails. There are no shortcuts out of Norton Street.

From there, the conversation takes a deeper turn. Mike explains that what the Bornless One experiences as “himself” is not an organic body at all, but a “body of habits”—the accumulated tendencies, reactions, and patterns that shape experience. The discovery that this body cannot simply be removed becomes one of the scene’s central challenges.

What first appears to be an intensely personal struggle gradually expands into a shared condition. Mike, Audrey, and Crystal all admit that they experience the same discomfort, the same confinement, and the same longing for freedom — that the Bornless One is not uniquely afflicted; he is simply becoming conscious of something everyone else has quietly learned to live with.

The discussion then opens onto the ancient idea of the Bardo—the transitional state between lifetimes. Norton Street is revealed as the Clear Light, the first stage of that journey, while the later Bardos describe progressively deeper involvement with fear, desire, and eventually the impulse to begin life all over again.

As always, the KGOD broadcasts weave humor through the philosophy. A commercial for Eternity Airlines, a Bardotown weather report, and an absurd news bulletin remind us that even the most profound questions can sometimes be approached with a smile.

Beneath the comedy lies a simple observation: perhaps the greatest illusion is believing that we suffer alone. The scene suggests that awakening begins not by escaping experience, but by recognizing that others are walking through the same mystery beside us.
