What is “THE GIZMO”?
The Gizmo itself is almost ridiculously simple.
It’s a small temperature-sensitive bead or set of beads in the form of a mala, which is held gently between the thumb and forefinger or middle finger. A simple holder in the form of a dorje may be provided.
The bead changes color as its temperature changes.
That’s it.
No batteries. No electronics. No Bluetooth. No computer. No interpretation built into the device.
You simply hold The Gizmo lightly between your fingers while doing the experiment and observe what happens.
And there’s an important word there:
lightly.
We’re not trying to warm the bead by squeezing it or enclosing it tightly in the hand. We’re giving it approximately the same physical contact throughout the experiment and watching for changes.
Before beginning, hold The Gizmo for a while and let things settle down. Notice its ordinary color and how much it normally wanders around.
Then begin the music or exercise.
Don’t stare anxiously at the bead waiting for something to happen. Don’t try to somehow make it change.
Just hold it.
Try the exercise.
And notice The Gizmo.
If its color changes, notice when.
Then ask the interesting question:
Did anything else change at about the same time?
The Gizmo doesn’t tell you what happened.
It doesn’t tell you whether you woke up.
It doesn’t tell you what a particular color “means.”
It simply provides another piece of information.
And perhaps that’s enough.
Because the real secret isn’t hidden inside the bead.
The real secret is in trying.
Holding The Gizmo gives you something definite to do. You stop merely wondering whether an experiment might work and actually perform it.
That simple act of trying changes the situation.
Trying unlocks the gate.
The Gizmo is just the little bead you happen to be holding when you walk through.
People will naturally have questions.
What color should it turn?
How quickly should it change?
What does blue mean?
What does green mean?
Does everybody respond the same way?
How do I know whether a change means anything?
What exactly am I supposed to feel?
Those are reasonable questions, but there’s a little trap hidden in them.
You can spend so much time trying to understand the experiment that you never actually perform it.
The big secret is much simpler:
Just Try it.
Hold The Gizmo and examine it closely.
Notice its color. Play the music. Do the exercise. Pay attention. See what happens.
You don’t have to believe anything. You don’t have to understand the theory. You don’t even have to expect it to work.
You only have to try.
And there’s something rather remarkable about trying. The Big Secret is in Trying.
The moment you genuinely try, you’re no longer merely thinking about the experiment.
You’re in it.
Something has shifted from speculation to participation.
That may turn out to be one of the most important functions of The Gizmo.
Perhaps the little color-changing bead isn’t the gate at all.
Maybe Just Trying Opens the Gate.
The Gizmo merely gives you a reason to open it.
