Something New in Town

Leslie Ann presents the new Isiris Mausoleum installation at Old Town, 3200 metres — following is a transcript of the builder’s description of the Mausoleum:

THE MYTH WE CALL “DEATH” —

Isiris Mausoleum is more than a simple crypt, indeed it is a palace dedicated to the great beyond. It is designed to be an experiential journey through the afterlife based on ancient, medieval and even more contemporary myths. As you enter it you are greeted by traditional omens and symbols of passing to the other side. As you explore you will find traps, ghosts, and clues about your journey.

In the lowest level of Isiris Mausoleum you will encounter the Underworld where Charon will carry you on his boat along the River Styx to continue your journey to the higher levels.

A maze based on ancient Egyptian and Tibetan legends shifts and ambushes you with haunted distractions as you attempt to make your way to the highest, brightest level of the Mausoleum and complete your journey through its afterlife connections. You will hear a rich range of sounds, see many visual effects, wander cramped confining spaces, and witness gloriously glowing, massive chambers decorated with custom weirdnesses, the like of which have not been seen before, in Second Life.

Isiris Mausoleum is Gothic in theme and style, but also contains ancient and Victorian elements all mixed together to stir up a sense of passing through the afterlife. It is an artifact of the Great Beyond. Isiris Mausoleum occupies an area of 60×60 meters (just smaller than a 4096 sq meter parcel), but has a variable prim count that ranges from 1440 prims to 1550 prims depending on how many traps are triggered and rezzed at once.

You must go down to the underworld level, find the boatman and his boat located on the River Styx. Merely step into the chained protected passenger section of the boat to be taken to various stops along the River Styx. You will find a variety of places to go at each stop. Ghosts and other entities will rez as you draw near their triggers and self-delete shortly thereafter. A dark Gothic theme, worthy of use as a house of horrors, or Halloween destination. It was an interesting experience to fabricate this journey, and I hope you will visit the mausoleum (at the 3200 level in Prosperity Ashram) to experience it for yourself. Thank you for your interest in Isiris Mausoleum, a tribute to the myth of the end of life.

Regards,
Insky Jedburgh (builder)
