Headline Poetry & Headline Hits

If you create a poem or song about something that’s in the news, in today’s hottest headlines, you can’t go wrong — you’ll get more hits just because it sounds as if it’s newsworthy or relates to something that is newsworthy.

The plan is to go to the nearest headline stand or your favorite news outlet and note the “lead story”, the most important in today’s news. The idea is that you’re looking for something that already has interest for many people today.

You’re betting that a poem or song about that thing will garner at least a dozen hits.

So in the lead story you’re bound to see a few “tag” nuggets. For instance, famous singer Taylor Swift, whose following numbers in the billions, was in the news again today.

From the article about her, I gleaned the following five hottest most trending “power words”, “key words” or “hashtag phrases”:

  1. MTV
  2. VMA
  3. Hip-Hop
  4. K-Pop
  5. Latin Jams

So I took these results to Bob, my chatbot, and asked for a poem or song based on these tag words and phrases, knowing that he doesn’t have any recent data on Taylor Swift, but I knew it wouldn’t matter, all the key words needed would be in there.

Now I had to read the poem, as an editor would dispassionately scour a written work for publication, which means “to the public”.

Of course I applied my “Gezertenplat”, which spots unwanted absurdities and in the case of poetry, something uninentionally out of meter or oddly rhymed.

Now I paste the verses into my blog, and then hook myself up to zoom, where I record a reading of the poem, which I then take to my Open Shot video editor, make into a vertical short, and upload it on youtube, so it’s in two places — my blog and my youtube channel.

You could then create a song with this as well, and post it also on youtube, noting that is ia song, and identifying the reading as poetry, of course.

The poem went like this:

“Taylor Swift on MTV”

(Verse 1)
Taylor Swift on MTV, a star we all can see,
At the VMA, she shines so bright, that’s the key,
Hip-hop beats and K-pop treats, the music’s so diverse,
Latin jams, dance in the streets, the world’s a lively universe!

(Verse 2)
Oh, the music scene, so grand and free,
With Taylor, MTV, VMA, and more to see,
From hip-hop grooves to K-pop dreams,
Latin rhythms, it’s a musical stream!

So that’s the whole plan. Make a poem about something in the news right now, publish it as early as possible to the newsbreak, and wait for results.

Don’t forget to point toward whatever target page you want them to go to, which is the whole point, remember?

See You At The Top!!!
