Godd is Not Just a Game — It’s a Movie-Maker!

Here’s a short “machinima” video I made in the Godd environment. I wasn’t even sure it would work, so it’s quite crude and very sloppy, just mucking about to see what it takes to make one of these things, where your actors are animations within the game environment.

Then the second of these came out …  and again, I was groping for solutions, some of which came with this effort, but awaited the terrific text-to-speech program that was found for me, which gave me French, Spanish, German and British accents as well as a variety of American accents. At first, however, I just used my own voice for both parts, looking to find a way into the world of machinimas. Keep in mind that these were produced back in 2008, when the GODD engine hadn’t even gone through the Big Jump yet!!!

Here is a machinima re-creation of an actual event at Cosmo Street in 1970, which was secretly recorded by Jim Straub, and the device used for the recording was a $19.50 “Craig” plastic tape-recorder, which is why Oz Fritz had to restore the recording and bring up the sound versus noise ratio. At the time, recording the meetings was forbidden; luckily for you, he decided to risk it — the result is several hours of very interesting and valuable insider experiential data on WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE AT COSMO STREET, and taken with the re-creation of the visual experience, it’s pretty damn close. With today’s GODD engine, I could make you believe you’re seeing and hearing a camcorder, not a machinima.

The crude cheap Craig crystal microphone was hidden under Jim’s raincoat, which is how he got nailed. He grinned, when he was caught, and gave the tapes over, and now they’re available to you! You can order the CD recordings right now, they’re ready to ship, and they may be available for download…but YOU’ll have to check. As my Dad said often, “What am I, a walking encyclopedia???” But, of course, he was.

And here’s the one I was looking for in the first place.

Premise:

What if we saw a bunch of dungeon monsters on break??? What if the Intruder Alarm went off while everyone was on break??? Who’d go to stop those vicious human invaders???

That’s the basic idea, and that’s what you’re seeing here. Today, I’d do a lot cleaner production and the models are far more believable and natural now.
