I’m up and running thanks only to Jenny, our powerful generator that enables me to continue working in spite of the frequent power and communication blackouts we have here, and the fact is, they are commencing to double-down and triple-down on these deliberate power blackout shutdowns. No videos today, not even showing some of my newest latest thumbnail creations on this blog.
The singular reason for the blackouts is to protect the PG&E corporate giant from more lawsuits over the fact that their equipment more than occasionally starts a wildfire, and so, they decided to punish the consumers for this by shutting down every time there’s a 20% chance of high winds, meaning 35 mph or more.
Well, this is our second shutdown in two days, and it looks like plenty more coming down the pike, as the winter moves in and the stormy days are here. Think about it — every time there’s a storm or some wind, they shut down the power. That’s gonna hurt when it’s cold as hell and icy and wintry, but that’s the way they’re gonna play it. Hopefully, when there’s snow on the ground or rain in the sky, they’ll relent.
In the meantime, we desperately need some help getting another generator, this one for the house, so we can keep our FIVE refrigerators going and the food won’t spoil. The present generator covers the barn, which means the fish will live — they will surely die without air bubbles in their water, and that means “generator”.
Okay, so that generator wouldn’t cost anywhere near as much as this one did, which was $2,500, and it runs the office pretty well, although not robustly. Robust would have cost a fortune. The fridge gen would probably cost $850 from Builders & Consumers, and it does look as if it will do the job, but we need some financial help for this unexpected expense thanks to Pacific Gas & Electric’s board of directors, all of whom are sufficiently rich to be able to avoid even the slightest inconvenience.
They say the peasants are revolting, but then, they always have been, haven’t they? It’s always a shock to the artistocracy that the peasants are upset enough to topple them for a day or two — revolts never last longer than that, although the reverberations might continue for a while into the future.
That won’t happen here. Trump is due for a shellacking at the polls and at law, and after that, they’ll be able to restabilize in just a few centuries, right up until that cometary mass and the asteroid create a joint impact, which gets me two extra points.
