For Advanced Pilots — Erick Gregan’s “EG Aircraft Spitfire”

Spitfire MK IX EG Aircraft (box)

The EG Spitfire is a truly  legendary aircraft; EG Aircrafts made it as realistic as possible within the parameters of Second Life physics and aerodynamics. This is the best aircraft builder in Second Life, and there’s plenty of competition! Takeoffs and landings can easily end up with engine fires, splash-downs, ground-searing crashes, and horrific gas-tank explosions, even if procedures are followed correctly. It’s war, baby, stuff happens. This is a warplane, probably the most effective combat fighter plane of its type and period until the ME 262. The EG Spitfire is itself a legend in Second Life aviation.

You’ll pay a heavy penalty for crashing into any obstacle. I advise you not head directly into the ground, crash into another plane, or take a dump into the ocean.

You should fly this plane, the Spitfire, as if your life were at risk — and you should wear a parachute and carry your copy of the ABD in-flight, just in case!

YOU CAN FLY THIS PLANE TODAY!

Well, maybe you can, and maybe you can’t. What I mean is, you can’t fly it at the Ashram without special permission and training, but you can fly it right now, today, from your very own private hangar space in my Secret SmogOps Blake Sea Airbase! You get to rez and store your very own Spitfire and fly it over thousands of sims in every direction! Note: no gunfire is allowed anywhere in the Blake Sea area, so always fly the civilian version!

HOW TO RENT HANGAR SPACE AT MY SECRET BLAKE SEA AIRBASE:

First of all, you must agree to keep my Secret Airbase a secret! Believe me, I wouldn’t tell anyone else but you about it. So here’s the scoop:

Cost of 1 hangar airspace for 1 Spitfire or other small aircraft: US $50 per month. There are a total of 20 hangar spaces available in my Secret Airfield.

WHICH PLANE TO FLY?

The answer is simple — whatever plane you want to fly. But at my Secret Airfield, it has to be small or temp-rezz, such as the Falcon or Regional Aircraft made by EG Aircrafts.

THE SPITFIRE IS THE PLANE OF CHOICE FOR ADVANCED PILOTS

Here’s where to buy your Spitfire:

click here

When you purchase your EG Aircraft Spitfire, you’ll see 1 Display Rezzer Spitfire MK IX Vx.xx. At the moment, you might have trouble flying that thing. Relax, No worries, Mate — just breathe deeply, and proceed:

Place the rezzer down and it will produce a display aircraft.

Click on the display aircraft, and it will allow you to then choose the version of Spitfire you want. This is only a very tiny script that most airport owners should not have a problem with.

Common commands for all 4 versions: Easy, Realistic, Easy Combat, Realistic Combat.
————————————————– ——————————
f = flaps up / down
g = gear up / down
br = brakes (auto released when powering up)
ch = Chocks (speed must be set to 0 for chocks to rezz) (note: the chocks are present only if the aircraft is present)
cc = canopy

c = change the camera (flight / taxiing)
hud= gives the hud, accept the attachement
payload = Rezzes aircraft rockets and bombs, accept the attachment.

anim = use this command only when, after a bad  sim crossing , you are in control again, but the camera and the position of the avatar are messed up.

(For combat versions)
Vice on = Vice enabled
Vice off = Vice disabled

g1 = 7.70 mm Browning machine guns (LMG) (option selected by default)
g2 = Hispano Mk II cannons of 20 mm (HMG) (note: does not work against avatars (in a vehicle or not))

b = Payload release (firing) (or F1)
p1 = selects the rockets (or F5) (option selected by default)
p2 = selects the bombs (or F6)

Special commands for  “Easy” versions
—————————————-
start = starts engine
stop = stops engine

Special commands for  “Real” versions
—————————————-
bat = battery on / off
fuel = Fuel valve circuit open / close
pump = fuel pump on / off
m = mixture on / off
mag = 1 and 2 coupled magneto on / off
gen = Electric generator  on / off

l (lowercase letter L) = navigation lights on / off
p = landing light on / off
ght = toggles the gun sight (head up display) on / off

refuel = refueling of the aircraft. Afterthe pump rezzes, click the pose ball to refuel. To complete the refueling stand up . (You will receive a chat message when the tank is full.)

Now let’s look at the invocational process of this particular aircraft:

Startup Process:
1 / Battery: ON (bat)
2 /  fuel valve system: OPEN (fuel)
3 / Mixture: Full rich (m)
4 / Throttle: 20% (PgUp x2)
5 / Fuel Pump: ON (pump)
6 / Magneto: ON (mag)
7 / Start (start)
8 / Wait until temperature gets at 50% minimum,  (yellow and red gauges) before applying power
9 / Gas: 0% (PgDown 2x)
10 / electric generator: ON (gen)
10 / Remove the chocks (ch)
The plane is now ready for takeoff. Note: Do not forget to close the canopy (cc)

Shutdown
————————–
1 / Gas: 0%
2 / Set the chocks after the full stop (ch)
3 / Mixture: Closed (m)
4 / Battery: OFF (bat)

Note: Do not forget to open the canopy before standing up from the plane even with good helmet or your avatar will suffer a serious concussion!

9 / Refuel: you must refuel the plane if you want to go back up.

Note: attachments are not transferred in the inventory, so your inventory will remain clean. This is an essential part of aircraft maintenance, especially in a public area.

DESCRIPTION OF HUD

Note: the hud disappears when you switch to mouselook (subjective view).

1 – Airspeed
2 – Artificial Horizon
3 – Compass
4 – VSI
5 – Altimeter
6 – Thrust

THE COMBAT SYSTEM “VICE”
==========================
You can shoot 4 rockets rounds of 4 rockets each  or drop 4 bombs before reloading.

Warning: This combat system shall in no case be used for griefing. This is a WWII fighter plane that should only be used on targets that are agreed. EG Aircraft is in no way responsible for the use of its aircraft by their owners.
It is every pilot to follow the rules established by Linden .

This set of instructions is only to be used with the EG Aircraft (Erick Gregan) version of the Spitfire. I do not recommend any other build for the Spitfire for my aviation students. If you want to fly the real thing, this is as close as you want to get.

Even though this is a very advanced pilot’s plane, I wanted to give folks a glimpse of what’s ahead. Flying in SL can get very complicated. Enjoy the bug flights for the moment — there’s no price to pay there but sheer humiliation as folks guffaw at your midair antics.

See You At The Top!!!
