Play the Numbers Game and Win

With greeting cards, the price-points are low, really really low — so it’s all about how many cards you can sell per day. Alone, you can’t afford it. You need a sales crew, and they have to benefit as well — everybody has to win in this game; you have to win enough to make a living from this one source of income, your sales team has to win enough to support them, with some hope of themselves becoming a distributor, and the customer has to win, in the sense that they get a good feeling from helping, and they get a premium, a greeting card, in the bargain. In a game where everyone wins, the game tends to keep going on its own momentum. The idea is not to be an end-user or a salesman, but an organizer and fund-raiser, hopefully on the scale of Girl-Scout cookies and the March of Dimes. I know there are some folks resistant to this approach to work, but it does work wonders.

Children’s Craft Village is a dream of mine, held for many years now. It is a place where children from all over the world can come to learn the mysteries of crafting and building, and it currently resides at Prosperity Virtual Ashram, where we have crafting and building classes every weekend.

“Psst….Wanna buy a trained Basilisk, cheap?” you hear the whispered voice from the darkest part of the already pretty darned dark alley.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” you reply, “where would I keep a trained Basilisk in a two bedroom two and a half bath apartment?”

“How about two for the price of one?” the mysterious seller prompts hopefully.

“Hey, now you’re talking,” you nod happily. “I have only one question… What’s a trained Basilisk?”

Funny you should ask, because that’s the very thing I wanted to blog about today. Trained Basilisks for sale.

Sure, anyone can have a Basilisk — they’re not uncommon. But a TRAINED Basilisk is something else altogether. Hmmmm….. I wonder what it takes to train a Basilisk, whatever the heck a Basilisk is…so what is a Basilisk, anyway?

If we go to the Source of All Human Knowledge, which these days happens to be wikipedia, a collection of opinions expressed as encyclopedic fact, we find that no one seems to know what exactly is a Basilisk, anyway.

That’s all to the good, because we don’t want a bunch of trained Basilisks running amok and raising Hell everywhere, do we? Especially if we don’t know what they are, what they look like, or what they do, right?

And in point of fact, it doesn’t really matter what they look like. You see one, you’ve seen them all.

Except that they all look different.

When I read this back to myself, it doesn’t sound very educational or informative. Gosh, I really want to try to explain this, so hang on, be patient. That is the essence of Basilisk Training, anyway. Patience is not merely a virtue; it’s the only important one.

I guess the best way to explain the Basilisk is that it serves as a guardian to your Altar Space and/or Work Laboratory, and has two other definitely useful attributes, to wit:

1. It can serve as a portal or gateway to XDA entities that might be interested in helping you. XDA Entities are Xtra Dimensional Allies, known to shaman as “totems”, to priests as “Holy Guardian Angels” and to many other cultures as “helpers” or “spirits from beyond”. All are accurate descriptions of a local population trying to explain their experiences with Extra-Dimensional Voyagers.

2. The Basilisk can serve as a teacher/guide, in much the same way that Yoda teaches young Luke how to understand the Force and become a Jedi Knight.

The Basilisk is not the stuff of which movies are made, but there are some important Hollywood references here:

The Raven — Vincent Price version with Jack Nicholson — try to find the restored color and sound DVD release.

Bell, Book & Candle — Kim Novak — excellent for an understanding of the Familiar.

“Catspaw” — Star Trek Episode #30 written by Robert Bloch and directed by my friend Joe Pevney, based on Bob’s short story, “Broomstick Ride”.

I suppose I should mention that something vaguely resembling the concept of the Basilisk was used in Harry Potter films, sigh. Don’t use anything from that fantasy series as a basis for understanding anything actually real. There are plenty of Hollywood references to Basilisks and other Familiars, Allies and Contacts.

What does it take to train a Basilisk?

Years and years of experience handling them and working with the entities that control them and manifest through them, in much the same way that you would manifest through an avatar in the Ashram.

How much is the Basilisk?

The price is irrelevant. You don’t have the knowledge to care for one yet, and you don’t appreciate the training. When you do, you’ll be worthy and capable of caring for and working with a Basilisk. End of Line.

How do the PTP Grades Work???

I’ve set up the PTP classes pretty much along very simple lines. Practical Work on Self Training Program is what PTP stands for. It’s a series of personal experiments which are called PTP Projects. If you’re interested and have a lot of spare energy and attention, you’ll receive as your first Mission Pack a group of ten (10) assorted handmade greeting cards that I put together for you to get rid of.

That’s right, I didn’t say “sell”, and the reason for that is because the exercise does NOT specify selling as an action you need to take, although unless you’re independently wealthy, the economics of the situation will eventually create an overburden of financial crush that can only be relieved by selling something.

NECESSITY CREATES ACTION

As you are undoubtedly aware, people don’t tend to do anything they don’t absolutely have to do in order to survive at the most basic level.

Well, that’s true, but people will take action if they believe they can personally and instantly benefit immediately and greatly as a result of that action, even if the probability against is very, very high, such as a lottery ticked or a horse race, and naturally, the greater the odds against, the greater the reward if your horse should happen to beat the odds, which is called a “long shot”.

Frankly, I know what will inevitably happen to your project, unless you do something to overcome your inertness (not “intertia”, the correct word is “inertness”, the quality of standing still, being “not-in-motion” with no hope of energizing oneself into action).

Getting a bit too technical? Okay, I’ll cut right to chase:

I send you 10 handmade “Vintage Postcard Notecards” — made by cementing down a genuine vintage postcard onto a brand-new stationary card with a matching envelope. It’s then wrapped in a protective sleeve, ready for market. You can add your own price tag or use mine.

There’s your necessity in a nutshell — you’re stuck with those 10 greeting cards unless you can figure out a way to get rid of them, and that DOES answer the exercise, because your only instruction is:

“You have 10 greeting cards in your possession. Get rid of them any way you can.”

That’s the whole of it, no gimmicks, no extras, nothing deep to understand. Get rid of them any (legal and ethical) way you can. I thought I’d mention those two items, ethical and legal, because they might not be “understoods” — I’m taking nothing for granted here.

Obviously if you don’t generate some cash from the sale of these horrid “in-your-face” greeting cards, you’ll soon be up to your eyeballs in greeting cards. They’ll be tumbling out of every closet and cupboard door if you’re not attentive and ready to take action to get them out of your house as if they were tribbles, and they are.

Tribbles are from a Star Trek episode, “Trouble With Tribbles”, writtten by one of my Galaxy Magazine authors, David Gerrold. You can easily find the very amusing episode on youtube, I’m sure. You won’t check it out unless I put the link in right here for you? Has it come to that, already? (SOUND: Deep Sigh, MUSIC up & out)

One of the other things I’m not taking for granted is your ability to create greeting cards of your own, on your own. I’ll be giving you the basics all along on the course, so you’ll be ready for each stage of increasing difficulty as it comes.

Don’t be in too much of a hurry for the Cockatrice, Basilisk, Familiar and the Big Four Elementals. You’ll meet them plenty fast enough — the learning curve is very easy in the PTP Course, and you can complete it in just a few months if you push yourself a bit.

Ancient Bead Heaven

PWoS is Here at last!!!

I began working on Practical Work on Self back in the summer of 1973 at New House. It then consisted of a series of practical work exercises that one could perform alone and at home, meaning in one’s hometown, not necessarily within the walls of one’s house. I had 5 really topnotch goof-proof exercises ready for market by 1975, but that was when we moved from Crestline to Grass Valley, and there was no time to experiment or start new projects.

Since that time, many work projects have come into the picture, but always there was the PWoS Exercise Series waiting in the background for completion. Well, I’ve done it. There are a total of seven levels, each level consisting of seven exercises, conforming in the same configuration as the 49 day reading cycle, to which these exercises are fundamentally attached. Donner Collection Notecards & Postcards

It suddenly occurred to me the other day that trading cards are a very limited market…but the same images that produced those little trading cards could be used to produce larger items, such as greeting cards, notecards and postcards, all featuring real antique photos.

My notecard and postcard series are printed in full color, even though many of the photos are black & white, because the effect is that of seeing the original. Black-ink printing simply does not carry off this effect. In addition, most of the so-called “black & white” photographs are actually brown, sepiatone and some hand-colored with oil paints or watercolor tinting.

The notecards and postcards relate specifically to the Donner Party, Donner family, Nevada County residents, a few notorious Old West characters, and some very rare photos of world-famous Old West Lawmen.

Appraisal Time Means More Than Just the House

Just a catchup on what I’ve been up to the past several days, besides creating a line of historical and vintage postcards and trading cards. I’ve been wading through 39 years of accumulated household stuff, first organizing the “stuff” into piles of similar things, then sorting them into piles of “dump”, “sell” or “hold”, kinda like stocks in an estate portfolio. An “estate” does NOT mean “dead person’s leavings”, although it CAN mean that also. It merely indicates a condition of personal belongings, including any liens or encumbrances that may lie upon it. In short, it’s everything you own or derive any personal benefit from, see?
