Gorby’s Little Incense Shoppe

Hi, everyone! It’s me!!! Welcome to Gorby’s Little Incense Shoppe…right here online and everything, and why not? I was asked to explain my offerings, so…what better place for the Duke to do to the Duchess what the Duchess did to the Doge, eh? (ref: Danny Kaye, “Court Jester”) and, yes, that is, indeed, me in the screenshot; I’m modeling the cheapo version of the Custom Orb 🙂 a better costume would cost an additional $3,000 so I said, “what the hell”, make it cheaper … and here it is, in the $699 version of the Kustom Karma Orb …

Huh???Herbal Incense? Oh, yeah… Okay, here goes — I’ll list them as they come up in my Genuine Oak Finish Herbal Reference Case:

Chen-Rig Tibetan-Style Compressed Herbal Stick-less Sticks — $30 in Acme Lab Glass Vial.

This is a homemade herbal blend of my own, that has been hand-ground and rolled into thick, wonderful aromatic stick-less sticks — meaning the stick is just compressed herbs, no central wooden stick to complicate the aromatic effect — and stuffed carefully into lab-quality Acme Glass vials, with hand-written and illustrated gold foil labels.

It’s an incense that my monks and I made and sold very well, back in San Francisco at my Golden Tiger Tea House, a small, partly outdoor, warm little corner cafe and bookshop where we sold incenses, small gifts of the Buddhist variety, a few books — few in number — just because there were so few back then, in the dark days Before Paperbacks.

Oh, and, of course, tea.

Oh, yeah. Lots and lots of different teas, mostly rare, sometimes rather smoky and aromatic, blends of my own, which I sold again at the Golden Apple on Broadway and 108th St. in New York City, circa 1958-59, and I intend to offer to you, as soon as I can figure out how to go about it and what I need to do in order to correctly and legally pack and ship them from California to your destination somewhere on Planet Earth. The offworlders must come to the “Will-Call” window for their packets, or send a UFO scoutship; I will no longer be responsible for any packages shipped outside the planet Earth.

What the heck was I ????? … oh, yes. Incense sticks. Okay, fair enough, back on subject we go:

Snow Lion Tibetan-Style Herbal Incense — $30 in Acme Lab Glass Vial.

Another great blend of herbs, also hand-ground and compressed into stick-less sticks, this favored incense is guaranteed to take you Out of This World. Terrific for experiments in non-identification with identity. It’s a very potent weapon against ego.

I always loved this incense, the recipe for which I brought with me to The City, San Franciso, just after the earthquake and fire, during the early rebuilding stage, when building loans were incredibly easy to get, due to relaxation of building codes to encourage contractors to speculate on projects, which they did, one of which was us.

Snow Lion was the incense that was burning and swirling around my bedside when I passed, in linear experiential time, 1922 — that’d be two lifetimes back, with a lifetime spent in Germany in-between then and now.

Anyhow, I’m compounding incenses, and getting help from my Tibetan friends once again, to bring you the very best in herbal incenses for your continued up-spiral spiritual journey.

I’ve been looking for photos of our shop which existed along with “Gangseng”, our tiny hillside monastery that existed from 1908-1922, but found none so far…maybe you can help. So, anyhow, this is the incense we burned back then…back then…back then…(ref: Buckaroo Banzai, but you already knew that).

Gorby’s Original Home-Made Tibetan-Style Herbal Sticks — $30 in Acme Glass Vial
