The Emily Murphy Song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLbxZ36mbG0

Lyrics Below:

She’s Emily Murphy, the whole world knows her now. (3x)

She’s Emily Murphy and before her, we must bow.

Emily Murphy, go sing your own refrain, (3x)

Emily Murphy, you got shit for brains.

If you don’t sign now, millions more are dead. (3x)

“I was just following orders”, is all she ever said.

(INSTRUMENTAL BREAK)

Following orders, obeying his commands.

Following orders, we meet the king’s demands.

Here’s what I did to make this happen:

  • Noted the thought as it passed through.
  • Got onto this blog page and wrote out the song.
  • Worked with my Trio Plus to get the basic track.
  • Adjusted the lyrics to bring them into the beat.
  • Logged onto ZOOM and opened a new meeting.
  • Hit the “record” button and sang the song into the webcam.
  • Saved the recording into my external hard drive.
  • Called up FRAPS from my desktop.
  • Called up SECOND LIFE and went to Norton Street.
  • Invoked the Second Life MARKETPLACE.
  • Searched for just the right “complete avatar”, and found one.
  • Ignored the hair color difference, kept the same costume.
  • Changed my CAMERA point of view to see my face.
  • Practiced walked backwards.
  • Found the right MOCAP dance — in this case, an Andrews Sisters boogie.
  • Tried it a few times to see how it worked with the camera.
  • Hid the camera controls down to a tiny square in the lower right corner.
  • Hid the dance controls so only a small portion of the “dance/no dance” shows.
  • Hit the FRAPS button — I use “F12” to record & stop recording.
  • Made a few more FRAPS — actually 7 more — from different angles and POV.
  • Stopped the FRAPS after collecting about 6 minutes of film in total.
  • Invoked the OPEN SHOT VIDEO EDITOR and hit “new”.
  • Brought in the song video and placed it in the third row from the top.
  • Split the sound off the video — it’s easy & obvious how to do this.
  • Remove the original video clip and move the sound only track up one unit.
  • Brought in the video clips one at a time to the clip board.
  • Added and adjusted video clips to the sound track until I liked the result.
  • Made a title card and placed it on the top row of my tracks, just above opening shot.
  • Made more titles for each of the lyrics.
  • Bundled the whole thing up as an HD for Youtube in the usual way.
  • Saved both the OSD and the resulting MP4 video on my external drive.
  • Went to Youtube and uploaded the video.
  • Described the video and decided on a number of issues related to posting it.
  • Waited for what seemed an abnormally long time — actually about 23 minutes.
  • Checked to see what it looks like.

That’s the drill, and you do that for each of this type of instructional video that you post on youtube. It’s a lot of work, about four hours, total, but definitely worth it.

I hope you take the inspiration and do your own thing!

See You At The Top!!!
