I Have Your Retreat Building Solution Totally Solved — L@@K!!!

These are Tuff Sheds. They are NOT “tin sheds”, but actual 2×4 stud-built houses, some of which can be made very liveable for VERY little money, and I mean VERY VERY LITTLE money.

This cute little weekender shack can be placed on a property for less than $2,000 finished as you see it here. Interior treatments and finish work would be extra, of course, but would be amazingly little.

Denying the Form

ashramjunk

In art, especially when you’re just learning the advanced levels, as I was at Otis Art Institute on that fateful day in 1967, you eventually learn about “denying the form”. What this means is that you create an illusion, generally a three-dimensional illusion on canvas, such as a landscape oil painting, and then you paint big numbers and letters all over it, jolting the viewer back to the two-dimensional canvas, rather than the deep landscape underneath it.

Well, it happened to my beautiful Ashram, as I predicted it must. I by no means want to discourage builders, but they must learn, not just go wild. Frank Lloyd Wright really had something there when he expressed the opinion that a house should not just be planted down anywhere in any shape — it should take into consideration the environment into which it is going. It’s not just the Purple Penis and the Flying Fairy Ball — in themselves there’s nothing wrong with them in a private region or property, but this is not private, and you are not encouraged to go wild with self-expression; it’s a place of work.

I know it seems absurd of me to point out things like that as glaring examples of inappropriate style in the Ashram, but those examples go a long way toward explaining what I mean here. Continue reading

What is “Children’s Craft Village”?

Academy Outdoor Stage

Children’s Craft Village is a dream of mine, held for many years now. It is a place where children from all over the world can come to learn the mysteries of crafting and building, and it currently resides at Prosperity Virtual Ashram, where we have crafting and building classes every weekend.

I firmly believe that virtual crafting is the key to future learning, and kids need to learn the virtual craft skills now, while they’re young and able to accept the high learning curve that comes with the skill package. Click the “continue reading” button to continue reading…

ALL-PRIM ROADKILL CAFE is here!!!

Finally, after many many hours of intense labor, it’s ready for Prime Time! Each item in the build is hand-crafted out of ordinary prims. There are no sculpties, no mesh, nothing to get hung about.

Everything in the build is totally separable. Want one grape? Just copy the grape cluster and unlink the copy. Same with the burgers and anything else you want to examine or use differently.

After a while working with this, you’ll be able to craft up virtually anything with just simple prims!

FREE Yacht Party Next Weekend — Bring a Friend

Leslie Ann at the Upper Crust Yacht Club during building session June 3, 2013.

Yep, it’s bulldozing and building time once again here at the Virtual Ashram. What I’ve done so far is to simplify and reduce the number of things encountered on the main level, placing them instead in skyboxes and platforms, available through teleport. What else I’ve done is to create a multiple-level terrain with water features. You should be able to walk the length and breadth of the ground level quite easily, although there may be a water break in there yet somewhere or other. If you find a problem, note the x/y/z coordinates and let me know about it, and I’ll handle it right away. Still ahead, adding buildings and some height via mountaintops in addition to what’s there already. You’ll find a variety of vehicle and boat rezzers all about the place; feel free to use them to your heart’s content.
