Who exactly is Pan, anyway? Apart from Mexican film-maker Guillermo del Toro’s 2006 dark fantasy, El Labarinto del fauno, we know little about him; only a few vague Urban Legends survive; his name comes to us today due to his immense popularity during the Romantic Period of Europe, 17th & 18th centuries in particular; the neopagan movement which presented rather powerfully in the 19th and 20th centuries made him even more popular with the lower classes. The upper class aristos don’t admit it, but I could name a few Pan fans that are out there right now in the very highest of power-possessing and quite famous folks traveling in the most aristocratic circles of Europe. Who the Heck is Xipe-Totec???

Who is Xipe-Totec, you ask? Sure, he’s the God of Thunder, demi-god of this and that, but forget about all that stuff; it’s just how he makes his living. What really counts is that he’s my best buddy from the Old Days back in the Southwest of Nirvana, when men were men and sheep were nervous. We used to knock around; he played a mean, fast-paced stickball and stoop-ball, and he won every bottle-top derby ever run. He was a sidewalk champion, and that’s saying a lot. The six-gun packed a whallop and it could hit a fried bean at fifty paces, but most gun battles were at close range, anywhere from belly-to-belly all the up to an average of four feet apart.

But Seriously, Folks…

Well, it happened again; that same strange phenomenon that we take so much for granted in our daily lives that we don’t notice it anymore, although we did when we were younger, fresher, more interested in the world and more exploratory. As we age, we stop exploring and begin to reject newness, oddness, differentness. This is called “nature”. It’s part of the survival mechanism and can’t be stopped, thwarted or re-wired, so learn to live with it as long as you’re wandering about inside an organic body, especially these bizarre hairless apes calling themselves “humans”. I’ve seen humans; they’re kind, considerate, hard-working and respectful of each other and of their planet. These are not anything like humans on this particular Earth. All biological life resists change. Re-origin yourself to “not organic life” and from that viewpoint, you’ll see that change is good, change is your friend, especially if you happen to be a Shape-Shifter like yourself.
