Open Letter to Josh Foreman

CTF Snow 2 – this level can easily be constructed in blankos.

Hello to Josh Foreman and to my many CTF friends around the world and beyond! I just passed the year 80 mark, and I can prove it by the fact that I have no idea how to do anything in discord or on a forum, but I can write a blog, so that decided me.

I don’t have a four-year-old around to guide me in these matters, only my fellow octagenarians, and none of us knows anything about cell phones, nor do we have one.

Claude told me he’d run into you in a thing called “discord”. I looked it up and still don’t understand it, but I figured that he could contact you somehow and tell you this open letter is here.

I also calculate that the more exposure blankos block parties get, the better, and I’m here to help, as I am able! Continue reading

How to Market a Video Game

Your total job is to make people aware of our Work. Period. How you do this is entirely up to you and to the luck of the draw which creates your specific place in the world.

One way to make people aware of the Work is to put them right into it, and one of the best ways to do this is to introduce them to the world of spiritual gaming.

Okay, let’s say that you have in your hands the world’s best, most amazing, astounding, incredible and fantastic video game and that playing this game offers a PORTAL into the spirit world, and you can prove it and you have thousands of testimonials testifying to that fact.

You have in your virtual hands the Perfect Spiritual Video Game. But there’s a problem. Nobody wants to even LOOK at it, let alone download it and play it and join a LIVE community of avid players and tell all their friends about it on twitter and facebook and instagram and all those other social media networks.

Yes, you have it right there in front of you, and nobody wants to play your stupid game. So what are ya gonna do? Where will you go? What will you do?

Frankly, my dear, no one gives a damn. Continue reading

First New Game in 2 Years

2forts

It’s been a long time since I’ve released a 3D action first-person shooter, and it’s appropriate that it should be 2forts, on which I’ve been working on and off for about ten years now, adding detail, taking detail out, looking for that perfect balance of gameplay versus lag, and with the addition of the underwater and slime pools, I think this is going to be a release. I’m sending it out for testing today, and if it passes muster, we’ll try it online with multiplayer, then package it up and get it ready for download — the whole process will take about 1 to 2 weeks to get the install to you.

Where Is Everyone???

2fort002

If you’ve ever hunted for a public online video game of any kind, you’ll know the frustration of dealing with the rantings and bitching complaints over the comm channel, but if you’ve ever played in a public online game, you will be painfully aware of the effect.

It’s worse than playing with BOTS, especially if there’s voice chat.

Text is fine, tell me and our team where the enemy is, that’s fine, but please, please, no voice chat. You can avoid the voice spamming misery of team chat very simply by avoiding people altogether. Sounds terribly pleasant, doesn’t it?

Single-Player CTF???

2fort010

Yes, it’s entirely possible. I’m working on it now, and it’s working well. You’re up against a small or large army of opponents — you place them where you want them, and select the easy, medium or hellspawn variety of guards for yourself and the opposite team. You then start the game and let ‘er rip. More about this when I have more time to dissert on subject.

See You At The Top!!!

King & Queen Sewer Rampage

http://youtu.be/8Mx6ImKpqng

Just happened to run into Coupon King & Queen and as luck would have it, I’d forgotten to disable my FRAPS, so was playing into the wind, so to speak, creating my own torpid and turgid lag. I blundered into this sewer action and thought, “What the hell??? Why not?” So I did a FRAPS vid of it and here it is. They are legendary and deservedly so; King actually survived that surprise Uber attack from behind!!! Check out his artful dodging! Party on, dudes, see you in-game!!!

Some Thoughts on the Subject of HTK

http://youtu.be/SDiYzEYQjIo

What is HTK, anyway? HTK is a game programmer term referring to the number of hits it takes to kill something in a game. It comes from D&D, which is “Dungeons & Dragons”, invented by two friends in the sci-fi fantasy realm, Dave Arnesson and Gary Gygax, both of whom became millionaires just prior to passing to the Next Realm in the Sky.
